CROESO I FLWYDDYN 2!
We are so excited to start our Spring Term! We have so many exciting opportunities and activities planned, which we hope will add to the wonderful memories you've built so far at St John Lloyd! We are very lucky to have Mrs Shore supporting our learning!
Throughout all areas of our learning we will be continuing to focus upon our 4 different ways of learning using our characters Ambitious Aaron, Creative Chloe, Healthy Harri and Ethical Ella to help us.
Our topic is ‘Superheroes’. We will be exploring the characteristics of a superhero and creating our own superhero character profile. We will recognise how behaviour affects other people through exploring comic villains. How are they different to superheroes? What might a comic villain look like? How would they behave? Through asking questions we will explore which aspects of school life you’d like a superhero to deal with, for example, road safety. We will explore cartoonists and illustration throughout history including master such as Walt Disney, and classic comic like Spider-Man and Superman, through to contemporary comic and cartoon heroes. We will learn about our ‘super senses’ and how they help us to avoid danger. Finally, we will explore real life superheroes and how their work helps us every day.
Our RE topic is ‘Books' and we will be thinking about our Big Question – ‘Why Do We Need Books’? We will look at the division of the Bible into Old and New Testament, name some of the Books of the Bible and the place of the Gospels in the Bible. We will explore the religious vocabulary and symbols related to the reading of the Gospel and the names, types and various books used at Mass.
Our virtues this term are asking us to become ‘Grateful and Generous’. We are growing to be ‘grateful’ for our own gifts, for the gift of other people, and for the blessing of each day; and ‘generous’ with our gifts.
In addition to this we will develop our ICT skills with a focus this term on data handling. We will also continue to develop our Welsh knowledge and our Maths skills will be posted to this page. We will also continue our Rights Respecting Schools Journey learning about our Rights and how they are present all around the world.
It is very important to complete your homework as this will reinforce the learning that happens in class. Bug Club, My Maths and a SeeSaw activity will be set weekly.
Please take a look at our School Twitter account to see the wonderful work will be producing in class - @SJLCardiff or https://twitter.com/sjlcardiff?lang=en
