YEAR 1/2

Croeso i flwyddyn 1 and 2! Welcome to the Summer term. our topics this term are 'Growing' and 'All Aboard'

We have an exciting class trip coming up during the 2nd half of the summer term too

We will be implementing the four purposes of the new curriculum for Wales to inform our teaching.

This will allow all children to be:

  • Ambitious, Capable Learners – through exploring what makes each of us happy through interviewing our friends and teachers.
  • Enterprising, Creative Contributors – through arranging and planning their own Tiger Who Came To Tea Party and creating their own observational drawings of happy faces.
  • Ethical, Informed Citizens - taking part in a variety of outdoor learning activities, growing, caring for the environment and creating our own Class Charter based on the UNICEF: Children's Rights.
  • Healthy, Confident Individuals – through learning all about what is right and wrong and how this effects our feelings, exploring what foods are healthy and not healthy

Our RE branches this term are 'Ends of the Earth' and 'Dialogue and encounter'  Our virtues focus for Autumn are: to be eloquent and truthful, thinking about how we can display these virtues at home and in school.

In addition to this we will develop our ICT skills with a focus this term on staying safe online. We will also continue to develop our Welsh knowledge with our daily Helper Heddiw sessions. We will be developing our maths skills and using these to apply in our numeracy work.  We will also continue our Rights Respecting Schools Journey learning about our Rights and how they are present all around the world.
