Hello everyone, it is so nice to welcome you all back after the Easter break.
Mrs Protheroe and Mrs Wiersma-Jones, your teachers, look forward to the sunnier months with you!

This half term we will be focusing on the topic 'Growing Things'.
Hopefully we will enjoy some better weather this half term, we will be outside lots learning about planting and growing in our class garden! We would like to invite you to bring in donations of plant pots, seeds, and especially compost. We will enjoy planting and growing together! Don't forget to come to school with a raincoat and suitable footwear! We hope you had a lovely, blessed Easter.
We will be implementing the four purposes of the new curriculum for Wales to inform our teaching.
Important Information
This year we will be using Seesaw for regular communication as well as homework.
Each week you will see a phonic and spelling homework uploaded for your child. This will be based on what they will be learning in class that week.
Each week a maths homework will also be uploaded. This will also be based on what your child will be learning with their maths teacher that week.
Wednesdays are PE day so please can each pupil have a labelled PE bag with appropriate kit in.
Children will also be given a bug club account which is our online reading scheme. New books for you to share with your child will be available each week.
We are looking at phase 3 tricky words this half term .These are
me he she we be my are you . There are lots of games and songs on you tube to support this learning.
0ne of our school aims is to develop a strong reading culture at SJL. Each Monday, one member of the class will be able to take home our class reading mascot: Percy penguin as a 'Star of the Week' reward.
A journal will be given to write/ stick in drawings or photos of their weekend together as well as a story time book for bedtime.
