Year 3/4 - C Protheroe / A W-Jones
Croeso! Welcome back to the start of a brand new school year!
We hope you all had a fantastic summer and enjoyed the lovely sunshine.
This term, we are going back in time to explore our new topic: "Vile Victorians."
We will be looking at what life was like at this time, especially for children and also at the new inventions and famous characters of this age.
In literacy, we’ll be diving into a range of exciting and engaging books. Our carousel of GGR Activities will include phonics, tricky words, comprehensions and pieces of writing explicitly linked to our individual reading books. Our class novel that we will share together is the Lottie Project about a girl swapping places with a Victorian character. We can’t wait to share this at story time. Bug club books will be ready on Mondays to read at home each week. Each child has their personalised user name and password, if you need a copy please just ask.
In mathematics we will be looking at number and place value, addition and subtraction and properties of shape. Don’t forget to keep checking your “Mymaths” page for extra help and to complete all tasks set.
Our RE topic this term is called “Creation and Covenant”. We will be learning all about how God made the world and how we can continue to look after it.This term, our focus is on nurturing the virtues of eloquence and truthfulness.
In addition to this, we can’t wait to enhance our ICT skills with a new scheme that we will be launching this term. Watch out Bill Gates! We will be using Google Classroom along with Seesaw this year.
Homework
Math homework will be put online on a Friday and is linked to the work that the children have been doing in class. Your child has their own individual ‘MyMaths’ login password.
P.E
P.E. will be undertaken on Thursday and you will need to bring your kit in a clearly labelled bag to be kept in school until half term when it will be given back to you to wash.
Note to parents: Please ensure all of your child’s jumpers, cardigans and any coats have their names in. We will do our best to ensure they are found when lost, but it becomes difficult if the children’s names are not written inside.
We look forward to a wonderful year together being the best that we can be.
Mrs Protheroe and Mrs Wiersma Jones
