Year 1/ 2 - C Vanstone

Welcome back and Happy New Year!

This Spring Term our topic is SUPERHEROES, and we have lots of exciting activities and experiences planned. We are very lucky to continue to have Mrs Shore and Miss A to support our learning!

We’ll dive into the exciting world of superheroes, discovering what makes a superhero special and even design our very own superhero character. We’ll also look at comic book villains and asking how they are different from heroes, what they look like and how they behave.

By asking lots of questions, we’ll think about which parts of school life could use a superhero’s help—maybe road safety or something else important to you! Along the way, we’ll explore amazing cartoonists and illustrators from history, like Walt Disney, and learn about classic heroes such as Spider-Man and Superman, as well as modern-day comic characters.

We’ll also learn about our incredible “super senses” and how they keep us safe. Finally, we’ll celebrate real-life superheroes—the everyday people who make a big difference in our lives.

Through our learning, we will become:

Ambitious, Capable Learners Just like superheroes train to master their powers, we’ll develop our skills in reading, writing, and creative thinking. Designing our own superhero will help us aim high and believe in what we can achieve!

Enterprising, Creative Contributors Superheroes are problem-solvers! We’ll use our creativity to invent new characters and think about how they could help in real-life situations, like road safety or helping others in school.

Ethical, Informed Citizens Heroes and villains make choices that affect others. We’ll explore how behaviour impacts people and learn to make positive, fair choices—just like a true hero who cares about their community.

Healthy, Confident Individuals Superheroes need strength and confidence, and so do we! We’ll learn about our “super senses” and how they keep us safe, and we’ll celebrate real-life heroes who inspire us to live healthy, confident lives.

In RE we will explore ‘Galilee to Jerusalem.’ We’ll learn about who Jesus is and how He teaches us about God.

Note to parents: Please could you ensure all your child's jumpers, cardigans and any coats have their names

in. We will do our best to ensure they are found when lost, but it becomes difficult if the children's names are not written inside.
