CROESO I FLWYDDYN 2!

We are so excited to start our new school year together! We have lots of exciting learning opportunities and memorable experiences planned, and we cannot wait to share them with you. We are very lucky to have Mr Hart supporting us with our learning this year, and we know we are going to have a fantastic time together!

Our Topic: Who Am I?

This term, we will be exploring the fascinating question "Who Am I?"

We will begin by thinking about ourselves, our families and our place in the world. We will create our own family trees and learn about the different people who make up our families and support us as we grow.

As young scientists, we will investigate how we change as we get older. We will explore what babies need to survive and thrive and think about how our needs change as we grow. We will also carry out a scientific investigation to find out whether a child's head gets bigger with age by measuring and comparing head sizes across different age groups.

As historians, we will travel back in time to discover what life was like for children in the past. We will compare toys from long ago with the toys we enjoy today and investigate how homes have changed over time. We'll ask questions, examine evidence and discover how daily life for families has developed through the years.

Through our learning, we will become:

Ambitious, Capable Learners: We will ask thoughtful questions about ourselves, our families and the world around us. By investigating how people grow and change, we will develop our curiosity and confidence as learners.

Enterprising, Creative Contributors: We will use our creativity to design family trees, compare toys from different generations and share our ideas about how families and homes have changed over time.

Ethical, Informed Citizens: We will learn that every child is unique and special. We will celebrate our similarities and differences, appreciate different family structures and understand the importance of respecting everyone in our community.

Healthy, Confident Individuals:  By learning about what babies and children need to grow, stay healthy and be safe, we will develop a better understanding of ourselves and how to look after our physical and emotional wellbeing.

Religious Education

In RE this term, we will explore Creation and Covenant. We will learn about God's love for us, discover how we are all unique and special in God's eyes, and reflect on how we can care for one another and the world around us. Through stories, prayer and reflection, we will deepen our understanding of what it means to belong to God's family.

Other Learning Adventures

ICT

We will continue developing our digital skills and learn how to use technology safely and responsibly.

Welsh

We will build our confidence speaking, reading and writing Welsh through songs, games and everyday classroom activities.

Maths

This term we will develop our understanding of number, place value, addition and subtraction through practical activities and problem-solving challenges.

Rights Respecting Schools

We will continue learning about children's rights and how every child has the right to a family, education, health care and protection.

PE

PE is on a Thursday. Please come to school wearing suitable PE kit and trainers.

Homework Matters!

Homework helps children practise and reinforce the skills we learn in class. Weekly activities will be shared through our online learning platforms, and we encourage children to read regularly at home.

Note to parents:
Please could you ensure all your child's jumpers, cardigans and any coats have their names in. We will do our best to ensure they are found when lost, but it becomes difficult if the children's names are not written inside.
