To be the best we can be, living to learn, learning to live with God at our side.

Welcome

EARLY YEARS - St Iestyn

Croseo Reception

Welcome to a brand new year at St John Lloyd primary school, we cannot wait to begin our learning                journey together. We are going to have a brilliant and exciting year!

This half term we will focusing on our topic 'Myself' following this after half term our topic will be

               'Mucky and Messy.'

  • In Maths this term we will be looking at numbers to 10, shape, measures and grouping and sorting.
  • In literacy we will be learning our letter sounds as well as beginning to write. We will be practising writing our names too, this is very important!
  • Our RE topics for the term are 'Creation and Covenant' and 'Prophecy and Promise'. During the first half term we will be exploring the creation story and during our 2nd half term we will be learning about the season the Advent and the story of Jesus' birth.

We will be implementing the four purposes of the new curriculum for Wales to inform our teaching.

  • This will allow all children to be:
  • ambitious, capable learners - through exploring who we are and how we grow and learn
  • enterprising, creative contributors - such as   exploring the story  the day the crayons quit and Owl Babies
  • ethical, informed citizens - taking part in a variety of outdoor learning activities, growing, exploring and  caring for the environment and living out our own Class Charter based on the UNICEF: Children's Rights
  • healthy, confident individuals - learning about staying safe in school and how we grow and change from babies to now

Homework will be set on Seesaw every Friday and we will be introducing letter join to the children too. This is an app that can be used at home to practice their precursive handwriting.

Please remember to label all your child's items with their name and ensure that they have a coat (not their best!) for outdoor learning.

We are looking forward to a fantastic first term and supporting the children in becoming the very best that they can be at St John Lloyd.
